Private Governess
An experienced and highly capable Governess for a six-year-old child in a fully staffed Knightsbridge household, with travel to Europe and the USA.

A private family based in Knightsbridge is seeking an experienced and highly capable Governess for their six-year-old child.
This is a fully staffed household, with dedicated Nannies caring for the younger children. The Governess will therefore have a specific focus on the six-year-old, taking responsibility for their educational support, development, interests and overall wellbeing.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience working with children of a similar age, together with an educational qualification or relevant educational background and previous teaching, tutoring or Governess experience.
The family is looking for a warm, intelligent and highly professional Governess who genuinely enjoys working with children and takes pride in their educational and personal development.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Governess who enjoys taking a holistic approach to a child's education and development, working closely with parents and becoming an important part of the child's support network.
Salary: £80,000+ per annum for the right candidate, with the final package reflecting experience, qualifications and suitability.
Responsibilities
- Providing dedicated educational support alongside the child's formal schooling
- Supporting homework, reading, projects and age-appropriate learning
- Developing the child's interests and introducing new areas of learning
- Planning and encouraging stimulating educational and cultural activities
- Overseeing extracurricular activities, lessons and appointments
- Supporting the child's social development, confidence and independence
- Encouraging good manners, organisation and age-appropriate responsibility
- Working closely with parents, teachers, tutors and other household staff
- Keeping parents informed of the child's progress, interests and development
- Accompanying the child on outings and activities
- Travelling with the family when required, particularly throughout Europe and the USA
- Creating a warm, structured and engaging environment in which the child can thrive
Requirements
- Strong experience working with children aged 5 to 8
- Previous Governess, Private Educator, Nanny/Teacher or similar experience
- An educational qualification or relevant educational background
- Previous teaching, tutoring or educational experience
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- A genuine interest in children's education and development
- The ability to encourage independence while providing appropriate structure and guidance
- A discreet, polished and professional approach suitable for a private household
- Flexibility and willingness to travel internationally
- Excellent spoken English
